        • They support the copyright directive

The Copyright Directive has the backing of a huge variety of people around the globe. Here's a sampling.

          Just say Yes!

          A message from Jean-Michel Jarre

Jean-Michel Jarre got things moving on the eve of the vote with an impassioned video plea. Here's a brief note from the French electronic music icon:

          Dear Friends,

Following the campaign launched a couple of hours ago, "JUST SAY YES ! / DITES OUI !", we are thousands and thousands of creators, European indeed and beyond, calling upon MEP's to hear our single strong voice pleading them to "JUST SAY YES !".

Regulation in no way inhibits freedom of expression, on the contrary. What differentiates democracy from chaos is the definition of rules that guarantee equality for all, a notion more than ever important in the digital age.

          « JUST SAY YES ! »

          - Jean-Michel Jarre

        • More than 300 organisations from the cultural sector:

"We, the undersigned organisations, representing authors, composers, writers, journalists, performers, photographers and others working in all artistic fields, news agencies, book, press, scientific and music publishers, audiovisual and independent music producers CALL ON THE COUNCIL OF EUROPEAN UNION AND THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT TO ADOPT THE DIRECTIVE ON COPYRIGHT IN THE DIGITAL SINGLE MARKET." Pedro Almodovar, Ennio Morricone and 400 other artists want to send a historical and positive message to future generations

Over 400 EU artists, including Oscar winners Pedro Almodovar, Ennio Morricone, and Pawel Pawlikowski call on the European Parliament to pass the #CopyrightDirective. Support for artists is fundamental to Europe’s creativity. Make sure that’s protected with article13.

171 french creators tell a story

Jean-Jacques Goldman, Louane, David Guetta and Akhenaton are among a group of artists who wrote a fable of giants who seemed kindly but turned out to be greedy.

UK : The beauty of the beast

In the run-up to Tuesday's crunch vote in the European Parliament, a cross-section of trade bodies argued why the Copyright Directive should be adopted now as a package. Read more here.

Italian publishers and libraries say 'Si'

The Italian libraries and publishers have joined with creatives in a common objective: facilitating fair access to copyright works.

          ERROR 404, creators not found

Creators are stepping up on social media to show the world that they support Article 13. Call it a selfie-awareness campaign. Hundreds of authors, composers, musicians and other creators have taken a photo of themselves holding a phone or tablet displaying the message “Error 404 Creators Not Found.” Check out the 404 Creators Not Found campaign on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Debbie Harry tells musicians to fight Tech Giants

“When that music is exploited by these dominant digital services for their own gain, it is devastating to creators.”

"Music matters, musicians matter," the lead singer of Blondie wrote in The Guardian. "The European copyright directive will create a future for Europe’s music and culture."

Journalists say Yes (again!) to the Copyright Directive

The European Federation of Journalists reiterated its support for the Copyright Directive and called on Members of the European Parliament to adopt a text that ensures journalists in the European Union will benefit from the revenues generated from the online use of their work.
